The Minister of Health, Manuel Villegas, inaugurated today the XII National Congress of Sanitary Assistance Penitentiary, which coincides with the XX National Conference of the Spanish Society of Penitentiary Health.
A meeting that, until May 12, brings together in Cartagena 200 specialized professionals in this field.
Villegas stressed the importance of collaboration between institutions to "continue to advance in the improvement of care and the quality of prison health services."
He highlighted some of the initiatives carried out by the Ministry of Health, such as the 'Matrix' program, a multidisciplinary model for the treatment of addictions in which close to a hundred inmates have participated;
or the Strategic Plan for the Approach of Hepatitis C, an agreement between the Murcian Health Service and Penitentiary Institutions, which has also benefited a hundred inmates.
