The Flamenco Week 'Perlas a Millares' will wear Cartagena de Flamenco, from June 7 to 17, with concerts in the streets, a festival in the Plaza de la CIM, a cante competition for Cartageneras, an exhibition of letters by Cartageneras for different streets of the historic center, courses, workshops and a masterclass.
'Perlas a Millares' has been presented this Thursday, May 10, by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón;
accompanied by the mayor of Education, Culture and Youth, David Martínez;
the president of the Peña Flamenca 'Antonio Piñana', Miguel Ángel Celdrán, and the general director of the Institute of Cultural Industries and the Arts, Marta López Briones.
La Semana Flamenca is one of the activities organized by Peña Flamenca Antonio Piñana.
In the presentation, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has expressed her love of flamenco art and her admiration for the ambitious program that the Peña Flamenca 'Antonio Piñana' has created to promote this art.
"The title already makes clear the art that will overflow our municipality with this great cultural commitment that will develop during the week of June 7 to 17," said Castejón.
On the rock, the mayor stressed that not only cultivate this art, but also are responsible for disseminating it by participating and infecting as many citizens as possible.
The council has taken the opportunity to offer support and support from the City Council so that they can continue doing this work of spreading flamenco.
For his part, the president of the Peña Flamenca 'Antonio Piñana', Miguel Ángel Celdrán, recalled that flamenco is declared as Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, bringing Cartagena to that 'flamenco map' the cantes of Levante: cantes Mineros y Cartageneras, which according to Celdrán, is worth enhancing and also, to please the large number of flamenco fans.
NATIONAL TENDER COMPETITION BY CARTAGENERAS
The Cartagena Rock organizes, within 'Cartagena Jonda', various activities throughout the year.
On this occasion, the rock has wanted to open more to the city organizing the Flamenco Week 'Pearls to Millares', recovering in it the national competition of cante by Cartageneras dedicated to Ginés Jorquera.
A contest that was not held since 1997. To participate in it you can make the inscriptions until May 15 on the web, perlasamillares.com.
The contest will be held in the courtyard of the Faculty of Business Sciences (courtyard of the former CIM), on June 9, 15 and 16, with the award ceremony being the same.
FLAMENCO FESTIVAL
A Flamenco Festival is also programmed with the performances of the singer Antonio Ayala 'El Rampa', accompanied by the guitar of Pepe Piñana;
the cantaor Curro Piñana will perform with the guitarist Antonio Piñana;
and also the performance of the dance company 'La Truco', which will complete the jondo art evening that will be held on June 8, starting at 9:00 p.m., in the courtyard of the former CIM.
The great flamenco offer will be completed by local artists who will offer concerts in squares, streets and bars of the city during the whole week of 'Perlas a Millares'.
On the other hand, Cartagena will fill many of its streets with letters from Cartageneras, an exhibition in urban spaces so that the public can read a selection of the most popular and beautiful lyrics of this cante.
The letters will have a QR code to also listen to them.
The exhibition Miradas Flamencas, by Juanfra Ros in Carrots Reserved Area, courses, workshops of cajón, palmas and flamenco compass, as well as a masterclass with the Trick, complete this Flamenco Week 'Perlas a Millares' that will wear Cartagena de Flamenco from 7 to June 17.
In the presentation it was possible to listen to a brushstroke of this flamenco art with the performance of the cantaor Agustín Garnés accompanied on guitar by maestro Antonio Piñana.
Both have played different cantes, such as Cartageneras, Alegrías or Soleá.
