In this sense, the councilor of MC, Ricardo Segado, responsible for presenting this proposal, has explained that, to this day, his writings are scattered among several archives and libraries of the Arab world, except for two manuscripts that are preserved in the collections of the Royal Library of the Monastery of El Escorial.

Also, the mayor recalled that his most famous work was the 'Qasida al-Maqsura', a remarkable poetic work among Arab literature of the thirteenth century.

This work included a song of nostalgia for the cities of his youth, among which is Cartagena, which left the following written: 'It is a palace with high walls, whose roof are the stars'.

One more step in the recognition of 'Hazim de Cartagena'

Given the importance of this illustrious Cartagena, the City Council, in 1986, wanted to remember his figure by dedicating a street in Ciudad Jardín, called 'Hazim de Cartagena'.

Prolific artist of the 13th century

Hazim Al-Qartayanni was born in Cartagena in 1211 and dedicated his life to poetry, philology and the study of Andalusian rhetoric.

The recognition of his literary gifts begins to arrive after his exile to Morocco due to the breakdown of Muslim Spain but finally emigrated to Tunisia, where he ended up establishing his residence, settled his life and began to count on disciples.
