Faced with a new display of neglect on the part of the Socialist Government with the elite clubs and athletes of Cartagena, recently demonstrated with the non-announcement of the Cartagena Sports Awards or ignoring the success of Víctor Ruiz, absolute Spanish champion of Paddle and number 44 of the world, the councilman and head of Sports of MC, Ricardo Segado, will present a plea in the next Plenary, urging that this type of success be supported and recognized.

In this sense, the mayor has recalled that this request for support to athletes and elite clubs is not new to Cartagena training.

This already claimed in the Plenary, specifically in October 2016, through a motion, that the Autonomous Community apostase, as it does with other teams in the city of Murcia, by the sports clubs of Cartagena.

Absolute Paddle Spain champion forgotten by the Socialists

Segado explained that in the XXXIV Spanish Championship of Absolute Paddle, held between 22 and 29 April in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, "we knew the great news that the Cartagena Víctor Ruiz was proclaimed champion, which also elevates up to 44th place in the world ranking Paddle Tour ".

However, lamented the head of Sports of MC, "this success does not seem to have reached the City, because this achievement has not been rewarded by the municipal government, which has not even organized a reception or act of recognition to this athlete of Elite".

Also, Ricardo Segado has said that in the absence of media coverage of this and other sports success not so majority, "we will present a plea at the next municipal plenary to recognize this victory and not go unnoticed, continuing with this important work."

Finally, Segado stressed that "has been lost again, as happened a few years ago with the PP, the Cartagena Sports Gala, recovered by the Government of José López and MC to bestow these deserved awards to people who dedicate so much effort his life to sports, whether as athletes, coaches or economic support, so important these days. "
