The students of the CEIP San Isidoro de El Algar lived this Monday a meeting with the long-distance triathlete Pedro Andújar, of the Jimbee Melón team.
An activity organized by the ADE Program of the Department of Sports of the City of Cartagena, which has been developed in the auditorium of the teaching center.
In this day of approaching the triathlon, schoolchildren have had the opportunity to know through the athlete of Pozo Estrecho, and first hand, part of his career, as well as the particularities of this modality that encompasses three disciplines in long distance: swimming , cycling and running.
The extreme hardness of this type of tests has attracted attention and aroused the interest of the students before the explanations of Pedro Andújar, who has related the characteristics, difficulty and hardness of a long distance triathlon.
During this meeting a video projection of the triathlete was made in different tests, where the hardness of this sport modality is really appreciated and in which the physical capacity of the athlete is reflected, as well as the overcoming and the effort, fundamental values ​​for the practice of this sport.
To end the day, the students have had the opportunity to see and try some of the elements that are used in these tests, such as the bicycle, helmet, clothing and material of Andújar himself.
In addition, the triathlete has signed autographs and has been photographed with the students in a group setting for the memory.
The ADE Program is organized by the Department of Sports of Cartagena and has the collaboration of the Official College of Graduates in Physical Education and Sport of the Region of Murcia.
