May has brought in its first weekend, a year, the traditional Fiesta de la Cruz, which has been developed in the municipality from May 4 to 6, and in which neighbors, associations and entertainment venues have made a total of 35 crosses that have contributed to a festive atmosphere throughout the weekend in the central streets of the municipality and in certain districts and county councils.
The mayor of Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba, attended on the night of May 4 to the lighting of the May Crosses installed in the streets of downtown Cartagena, with the aim of starting the festivities that have been held for three days in the town.
The mayor has indicated that Cartagena has been flooded these days by visitors and the citizens of Cartagena, who have taken to the streets and have carried out a large participation, while pointing out that several associations have represented the culture Cartagena, like the folklore of La Palma.
He also pointed out that cruise tourists have been very involved in these festivities and highlighted the involvement of dance schools, which have been able to promote themselves and have helped many young people find an extracurricular activity that gives them motivation.
However, the councilor has said that combining a holiday with the welfare of the residents of the area is complicated, and has indicated that the City have tried to mediate with residents and hoteliers in the best way possible.
Looking ahead to next year, Torralba has indicated that there are issues to improve that will be valued throughout this year, and has reported that through noise regulations will seek a better coexistence between the party and welfare with the goal of that "we can all enjoy these dates in a controlled manner that benefits all parties," he concluded.
Cartagena's entertainment venues have produced 17 crosses that have been shown in the streets of the city center, in the Plaza de San Francisco and in San Ginés, while the traditional associations such as Cofradía Marraja;

the Cathedral and the Risen One;
the "Ciudad de Cartagena" Folkloric Group;
the Carnival Federation;
The Romeros de San Ginés de la Jara Brotherhood and the Cartagena Center Career Platform have designed 7 May crosses.
For its part, the neighborhood of San Cristobal, the Strait of San Ginés and the Azohía have also celebrated the festivities showing these ornamental details to neighbors and visitors.
As of May 11, they can also be seen in Galifa, La Aljorra, Vista Alegre, Santa Lucia and La Aparecida.
