- Since May 2017, the City Council has adopted a plenary agreement to apply a package of measures to encourage the use of electric transport in the municipality and does not provide a company, with its own fleet of electric vehicles, with the possibility of reserving a space in the public way to establish a recharging station
The Municipal Group of Citizens has denounced today that the Government of Cartagena disregarded since May 2017 a plenary agreement driven by orange training to encourage the use of electric vehicles through the installation of charging points and changes in municipal ordinances.
The agreement forced the City Council to study the creation of specific parking lots for electric cars equipped with recharging posts, since it will reach agreements with service stations and private parking lots.
Another point of the agreement called for an analysis of the possibility of modifying the ordinances to promote that each newly constructed building had the necessary infrastructure to enable recharging the batteries of electric cars and allowing free parking in the zones. regulated parking for all vehicles with a zero emission card, issued by the General Directorate of Traffic.
The Citizens proposal included the gradual replacement of the fleet of vehicles for municipal use with combustion engines by electric vehicles and a tax credit in the construction, installation and works tax for the establishment of this type of recharging system.
Citizens recriminate the Government that has allowed Cartagena to be the only major city in Spain that does not have an electric recharging point, "there has been some attempt, but they are out of service or have had to be withdrawn", explained the spokesman for Cs Cartagena , Manuel Padín, who recalled that "the famous Strategic Plan 'M17', or the Smart City master plan prepared by the Department of Sustainable Development during the government coalition of MC and PSOE" had, I recall, 20 measures, between they establish a recharging network, but it has turned out to be another complete failure, one year after the presentation of this plan, we have nothing, no new bike lanes, no dissuasive parking, no recharging points, no bicycle rental, no more pedestrian zones, no more zones 30, no fleet of clean municipal vehicles ".
The orange training has announced that it will ask for explanations in the next ordinary plenary session for all these breaches.
The City Council does not facilitate a company to install a charging station
"That a plenary agreement is not fulfilled for a year is something that we are unfortunately accustomed to in this City Council, but the straw that has filled the glass of our patience has been to know that a company on earth, which has bet for sustainable transport and has financed with his money a project to set up a charging station for his own fleet of electric vehicles with zero emissions, he had to abandon his plan because the City Council, after delaying the process with a thousand details, ended up insuring it was not possible to make a reservation of space to charge an electric vehicle as one of the promoters has published on his blog ", lamented the spokesman of Cs Cartagena, Manuel Padín.
Manuel Padín regrets that this City Council, "instead of offering facilities and solutions when some businessmen ask for a simple authorization to the administration for a noble purpose, which is in charge of their accounts, hinders and incidentally takes away the desire to try again the most outrageous and shameful thing to know is that in other cities there is no problem in granting these municipal permits. "
The delegation in Madrid of the Association of Users of Electric Vehicles (AUVE) has criticized in its official Twitter account the management of the City of Cartagena in this matter.
