On the occasion of the alarming figures that Ecologists in Action announced yesterday regarding traffic, tropospheric ozone pollution and air quality in Cartagena, CTSSP has announced that it will request an emergency call from the Quality Board of the Air, organism created at the request of the purple formation and that the socialist Government, since it manages in minority, has not summoned even once.
Likewise, the training related to PODEMOS has denounced the hypocrisy of the Government of the Autonomous Community that never tires of deceiving the neighbors, of throwing promises that it does not fulfill and that makes absolute abandonment of functions with respect to the environment, the quality of the air and the pollution of the municipality, which in addition to the traffic and the growing number of cruise ships, has the fundamental problem posed by the complex of La Aljorra and the Valley of Escombreras.
After knowing that Cartagena leads one of the most ignominious rankings in terms of pollution, the municipal group of PODEMOS will demand that in the next Air Quality Board (where all the social agents, the neighbors and the respective administrations are summoned) marches urgent and effective solutions to the problem, which does not only have to do with the environment, but also has consequences on public health, the economy and general citizen welfare.
In relation to the Ministry and the General Directorate of Environment, CTSSP will demand that both administrations assume once and for all their responsibilities, that they face the thousand times announced renovation of the measuring stations (paralyzed and in permanent state of contracting) and control of industrial emissions.
At the same time, it will demand a rigorous and independent study of the impact that industrial and traffic pollution is having on the health of citizens.
Finally, the purple formation will require the Municipal Government the effective implementation of the Sustainable Mobility Plan, a battery of measures that the socialist government has relegated, such as the dissuasive parking, the pedestrianization of streets, the reduction of speed and the zone 30, the adaptation of bike-paths, the improvement of public transport or the creation of the pedestrian and bicycle office, that is, a series of actions without which Cartagena will continue to increase its traffic and thus the polluting emissions corresponding.
