One more year, the regional contest of classical music "Between Strings and Metals" closed Friday its XXI edition with the celebration, in the Municipal Auditorium El Batel, of the Closing Ceremony and Awards Ceremony, in which to know the names of the winners of the contest among the 172 young musicians participating, who have shown, all of them, a great quality in their performances.
The first of the surprises of this gala was at the main entrance of the Auditorium, where the Young Symphony Orchestra of Cartagena (JOSCT) waited, continuing with the original sketches starring the actors of the Company El Hechizo Teatro, responsible for conducting the closing ceremony.
Nor has there been a lack of music, as it could not be otherwise in Entre Cuerdas y Metales, where the protagonists have been the former winners of this veteran contest.
Thus, the gala began with the piano interpretation of the Suite Goyescas by Enrique Granados, specifically nÂş 1: Los Requiebros at the hands of the pianist Víctor Amaya Avellaneda - I piano prize of the XX Edition 2017 -.
Other pianists awarded in the XV Edition 2012 and the XVI Edition 2013 that have risen to the stage have been Cristina Sánchez Gómez and Paula Puche Bernal, interpreting to four hands Theme and variations of Randall Compton.
Then Cristina has played again participating in a sketch with a beautiful visual choreography developed by El Hechizo Teatro, playing the piano Claro de Luna and Arabesque nÂş 1 of Debussy - Composer honored this year in Entre Cuerdas y Metales, being the centenary of her death.
The music has not stopped at any time, also enjoying the performance of the Chamber Orchestra of Cartagena, directed by Andrés Pérez Bernabé, with the soloists awarded in the previous edition, Soprano MÂŞ del Carmen Portela Tapia who performed along with this three pieces by Bononcini, Mozart and Grieg, giving way to the second soloist who played with this group Ángel Rodríguez García, the Concert for Marimba and String Orchestra by Mateo Soto.
Mateo Soto, who was in the room (Professor of Fundamentals of Composition at the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena), offered this great work that premiered in 2015 in the Promotional Concert Cycle that this contest organizes every year, playing Angel For the second time yesterday at the Batel.
The one in charge of putting the finishing touch to the Closing Gala was the Symphony Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena conducted by Ginés Martínez Vera, with the last surprise of the Gala, an encore with the interpretation outside the program of the soundtrack of Star Wars.
Among the authorities who have attended the ceremony and have been responsible for giving the diplomas to the participants, were the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, the councilor for Culture, Education and Youth, David Martínez, the deputy general director of Vocational Training and Education Special Regime of the Region of Murcia, Mónica Escudero, the director of the Conservatory of Music of Murcia, Jonatan Rives, and the director of the Conservatory of Music of Cartagena, MÂŞ Ángeles Bres.
