The City Council and the Platform in Defence of the AVE not accept further delays to the arrival of the railway infrastructure to the city of Cartagena.
For this reason, the representation of the platform in defense of the AVE, with the president of COEC, Illán Diego, and the Chamber of Commerce, Miguel Martinez, head, met this morning with the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, and government spokesman, Joaquin Segado, to address the importance of promoting the railway infrastructure in the region facing the economic future of Cartagena.
Mowing Joaquin said that the Region of Murcia and in particular the city of Cartagena, in terms of railway infrastructure, have been marginalized by the various socialist governments.
The spokesman explained that this proposal seeks to promote the railway infrastructure in the region and the municipality, it shall present next Friday and will be supported by the platform in defense of the AVE composed of the Chamber of Commerce and COEC .
For citizens and businesses can compete on an equal footing with the rest of the regions, stressed the spokesman, will demand the same investment in the rest of Spain for the installation of such rail infrastructure.
This requires that there is a clear political commitment by the Government of the Nation.
For its part, Illán Diego, recalled that the lack of AVE in Cartagena causes a huge bias with the unique circumstances in tourism.
He recalled that the train that assists from Madrid-Cartagena is the same as it does for over 20 years and that in the XXI century is nonsense, since it takes more than 5 hours.
To this, the president of the Chamber of Commerce has added the new railway infrastructure companies Cartagena will be the beneficiaries and thereby re-emerge a new economy, give more life to the municipality, in the region.
In short, the infrastructure is necessary for any economic development, to connect cities and evolve together.
