The Minister of Health, María Ángeles Palacios, visited accompanied by the councilman of Culture, Celebration, Women's Archaeological Heritage of the City of Cartagena, Rosario Montero, and members of various women's associations in the municipality the Hospital Universitario de Santa Lucia, who will serve 278,000 inhabitants of the Health Area II.
The meeting organized between the Ministry and the Consistory of the town has meant that over 200 women to see the facilities the new hospital.
"The aim of this course is to acquaint the citizens of this municipality that their future hospital, and that will be operational later this year," said the minister.
Hospital de Santa Lucia
The assumed health infrastructure Cartagena II Area to have two hospitals and reducing the volume of care, as 100,000 patients from San Javier, San Pedro del Pinatar, Torre Pacheco and Los Alcazares are treated at the Mar Menor Area VIII.
The work of the Hospital of St. Lucia, which occupies 115,000 square meters and will feature more than 1,700 parking spaces, already completed.
The new building will accommodate a maximum of 656 beds, of which 40 percent are single.
In addition, the Santa Maria del Rosell Hospital will remain open due to its proximity to the town and the services it houses, among which are the Emergency, Radiology, Ambulatory Surgery, Mental Health, Outpatient Dialysis, Home Care and Palliative Care.
