Ciudadanos accuses MC of doing in the Plenary what he considered illegal when he was in opposition (12/12/2017)

- Citizen Movement denounced in 2015 that the then mayor Pilar Barreiro and the popular group in the City Council were "not complying with the law", "limiting the work of opposition and with it the control of their actions at the head of the Government of Cartagena" and that it dealt with a "corruption" when they offered the written answers to the initiatives presented by the opposition groups in the municipal plenary sessions

- The orange formation denounces that the MC party has not yet responded, even in writing, to questions registered by Cs in August and November

The Municipal Citizens Group in Cartagena today deplored the failure of the Movimiento Ciudadano party to respond to the questions posed in the ordinary plenary session and which are linked to the municipal departments they manage.

Ciudadanos recalled that although MC was committed in the past ordinary plenary session to respond in writing to questions related to the strong delays in the granting of building permits by the City, and a question linked to an alleged investigation that the councilman of MC, José López, had ordered to make more than a year ago in relation to the placement of relatives of councilors of the Popular Party in the company FCC;

a week and a half later, the Citizens Group still does not receive any reply.

According to the spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, "there is nothing to justify this delay to comply with the obligation to report to the oversight function of opposition groups, we are talking about questions that were recorded on 8 and 23 November, and I fear that this responds rather to a deliberate act, which is extremely serious, an absolute disregard for the democratic functioning of this City Council. "

Manuel Padín has also highlighted the fact that "the other party of government, the PSOE," could meet and answer all the questions even though only those that referred to water were more than 40, proving that it was possible do it in a timely manner ".

It is not the first time that the MC party fails to fulfill its obligations, "in the plenary session of August did not give explanations before the battery of questions that the councilor of the orange formation, Ana Rama, raised to know if the government team had complied his word and had increased, or planned to do, the number of public sources of drinking water in the new municipal infrastructure, "said Manuel Padin who recalls that" on that occasion was the councilman of MC, Francisco Calderón, who refused to respond and promised to do it in writing, which he did not do and forced us to register a new question. "

In 2015 it was an "illegality" according to MC

Today we would like to remember what MC said in 2015 when faced with this situation when the Partido Popular ruled.

Then Movimiento Ciudadano denounced that the mayor Pilar Barreiro and the popular group in the City Council, were "breaking the law", "limiting the work of opposition and with it the oversight of their actions at the head of the Government of Cartagena", and that it was of a "corruption" when they offered the written answers to the initiatives presented by the opposition groups in the municipal plenary sessions.

The spokesman for the training, José López, assured in January 2015 that two reports from the Plenary Secretariat confirmed that "this practice can only be carried out when the opposition groups accept it."

This is published in the newspaper La Opinion that refers to a statement by MC, which also claimed that this practice was "used by PP councilors to not answer questions or respond with evasiveness and ambiguities, getting to prevent being asked clarification, cross-examination or reply ".

Before these words, the spokesman for Citizens does not understand "how now Lopez is allowed to do the same as former mayor Pilar Barreiro did, we think a total lack of coherence, a political hypocrisy over this party that was never prepared to take on government tasks I suppose we should think that they also use this irregular practice to prevent clarification, cross-examination or replication. "

"We also do not understand that a councilor who does not belong to the Government, as is the case of José López, has to answer the questions we ask, since they are always questions in relation to government action," the spokesman for Citizens has warned. considers that "we deserve that it is a member of the Government of Cartagena that responds us".
