Presented 101 proposals in the first 48 hours of participatory budgets (18/10/2017)

A total of 101 proposals to the participatory budgets of 2018 of the City of Cartagena, have been registered during the first 48 hours of the deadline, which began on Monday 16 and end on 29 October.

From the Department of Citizen Participation and Good Governance, a significant number of initiatives are considered, which demonstrates the growing interest that this method that allows neighbors to propose and choose in which part of their taxes are invested, is acquiring.

The same sources have warned of some errors in these first proposals, such as the lack of concreteness of some of them, in which it is not defined, for example, the place where to undertake the action or is not clearly defined in what the project consists.

It has also been noted that some of them are not investments, as required by the call, but merely maintenance, such as tree pruning or repairing sidewalks;

while it has been reiterated that their execution should be limited to a maximum of 75 thousand euros each.

The acting mayor, Juan Pedro Torralba, expressed his satisfaction with the great participation of these first two days and has encouraged the citizens to continue making their proposals correctly, "people have to be clear that it is an investment and there are still some proposal related to the maintenance of public thoroughfares, where there is no room for these 2 million euros for participatory budgets. "

Another observation is that some of the proposals do not include a single proposal, but several, which gives rise to its invalidation.

As you will remember each citizen can submit up to a maximum of three proposals.

Most of the proposals submitted, so far, 55 have been made online through the website https://presupuestosparticipativos.cartagena.es/, in which all the information of this process can be gathered, and the rest , 46, in person through the OMITAS municipal registry offices and network, which have extended their usual schedule in the afternoons to facilitate participation.
