Citizens demand that public administrations implement urgent measures on the Siphon Road (10/08/2017)

Manuel Padín: "The local government can not keep throwing balls in road safety matters at the request of urgent solutions by the neighbors of the area.

Cartagena, August 10.

The Municipal Group of Citizens in the City of Cartagena claims and requires the local government and the Autonomous Community to implement urgent measures to address the deficiencies presented by the Siphon Road and its surroundings in terms of road safety.

On several occasions, neighbors in the area have denounced the existing flaws in the area, as well as the lack of road signs, specifically at the Canteras rambla, where there is still a risk for cars to fall into the river as a consequence Of the lack of lighting.

To this must be added the danger also exists for the pedestrians of the area, since the absence of a sidewalk, forces the neighbors to walk along the shoulder, with the consequent risk of endangering their lives.

The Citizen spokesman in Cartagena, Manuel Padín, said that "the public administration can not continue to look away from the growing demand of residents of the area to deal with the lack of infrastructures to end To this problem. ''

The orange training also recalled that in the municipal plenary of April 2017, the Citizens' Group asked a number of questions to the local government asking for information regarding the actions of the Department of Infrastructures aimed at addressing the flaws of the Zone and whose state had worsened as a result of the intense rains and floods of December 2016.

For Manuel Padín, "the local government can not continue to throw balls in the area of road safety in the face of the demand for urgent solutions by local residents.

We are talking about an area that is frequented daily by pedestrians and drivers and that their condition worsens with the passage of the months.

Padín also wanted to highlight "the urgency to undertake the relevant reforms and actions, as we may find ourselves in the autumn with new floods that further worsen the state of the terrain."
