New officials of the City of Cartagena have already taken possession of his post in the Palace Hall (29/03/2017)

On Wednesday, March 29, 70 public employees have taken office as career officials of the City of Cartagena, in an event that has taken place in the Consistorial Palace chaired by the mayor, José López, who has been accompanied by the Deputy Mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, Councilor for the Treasury and Security Area, Francisco Aznar, and the director of the Municipal Government Office, Encarna Valverde.

The mayor has assured that the access to the civil servants of these workers supposes "an absolute tranquility" since "they no longer depend on the will of the politician of shift to be in one or another position, but they fall within norms and collective agreements much More regulated ".

In this sense, he explained that "we are shielding the will of the municipal workers so that neither we who are now nor those who can come later can break it", while congratulating these 70 new officials and asked " By the cartageneros, since they should not watch over the politician of turn but by the municipality and the interests of the cartageneros ".

For his part, the Councilor for Finance has recalled that this batch of new officials are part of the Public Employment Offer for 2014 and 2015, intend that the fixed jobs consolidate their position as officials and, thus, "give stability to the City Council from Cartagena".

In this way, Francisco Aznar explained, "when we arrived at the Government in 2015 we started up because the first demand of the unions was the civilization of these 70 public employees."

As for those temporary workers, the councilman stressed that they are 68 people, from which will be offered positions as administrative assistant, porters or ordinances, which are considered 'general administration', and, by the end Of this 2017, the places of 'special administration' will be removed.

Finally, José López recalled that "the only administration that has not reduced the number of its officials are the Autonomous Communities, while the local administration has reduced it by 27%" because "we are not allowed to cover replacement rates" And regretted that "it takes 86 policemen and we only have two environment technicians".

The new officials have recently successfully passed the test that could be presented to public employees of the City of Cartagena and its autonomous agencies that had the status of permanent staff on 13 May 2007. The selection process comes from the Public Employment Offer for the year 2014, published in the BORM of 12/22/2016.

The 70 public employees who passed this test belonged to different autonomous municipal bodies such as the ADLE, the Carmen Conde Patronage and the Autonomous Organ of Collective Management, as well as the City Council itself.

In addition, to questions from the press, the mayor has talked about other issues of the local time as the municipal water tariff and the old jail, after a report from the Autonomous Community for the protection of the facade and towers of the historic building.
