Ricardo Segado transmits to Culture the advances of the municipal government in historical and archaeological heritage In addition, the mayor of the area of ​​Archaeological Heritage has required the involvement of the regional government (24/03/2017)

The Councilor for Culture and Heritage, Ricardo Segado, met this morning with the Director General of Cultural Heritage of CARM, Maria Comas, to transfer the main projects in matters of historical and archaeological heritage for the municipality of Cartagena.

The meeting, held at the headquarters of the General Directorate of Cultural Property (DGBC) in Murcia, also participated the municipal coordinator of Historic and Archaeological Heritage of the City of Cartagena, Mari Carmen Berrocal, and technicians of the aforementioned regional institution.

The event has served for the two administrations, local and regional, to address the state of different issues of interest to the municipality's heritage.

After the end of the meeting, Segado said that "after several months without being able to access a meeting with the Directorate General of Cultural Property," has been "able to transfer to the Autonomous Community all the advances in matters of historical and archaeological heritage" Which have been "carried out from the municipal government".

Segado explained that they have "detailed the conclusions of the surveys in the Amphitheater providing data of great importance to continue the excavation and to advance in the elaboration of the Master Plan".

To this end, they have been informed that "they will finally contribute 100,000 euros".

They have also moved the conclusions of the study of georradar on the slope of Monte Sacro, "with amazing findings that will be the object of study in a field of work for 60 students."

Finally, he said that they have spoken "of Cueva Victoria and its necessary Master Plan that will be financed, of course, by the City of Cartagena."

For all this, they have offered their hand and requested "the involvement and collaboration of the Autonomous Community," being convinced that "this meeting will result in a positive outcome for the heritage of Cartagena," he concluded.

ARCHAEOLOGICAL HERITAGE

The development of a project for its adaptation, management and exploitation on the Cueva Victoria deposit has been discussed, with the municipal representatives presenting the City Hall Master Plan.

Regarding the Roman Amphitheater, the City Council has been informed of recent surveys in the site, providing a report detailing the results obtained.

Likewise, it has been known that the contribution of CARM to the Master Plan of the Amphitheater will be 100,000 euros.

Another of the issues treated refers to the actions carried out by the City Council in Monte Sacro.

In this way, it has noticed the results obtained in the georadar surveys that were carried out at the end of last year, highlighting the Roman remains found at a shallow depth (30 centimeters in some cases).

Also on this environment, Segado and Berrocal have given to the representatives of the regional administration of the celebration next summer of an Archaeological Campus, in which a total of sixty students will participate.

ALGAMECA GIRLS AND WINDMILLS

During the course of the meeting, Ricardo Segado requested the representatives of CARM the documentation related to the file initiated by the regional administration on the protection of the Algameca Chica, a unique place in Cartagena.

Once this information is received, a meeting of the City Council's Working Table on the Algameca Chica will be convened.

Likewise, the state of the Master Plan for Windmills has been addressed, driven by the regional administration.

In this sense, it has also been asked to participate in this action of the municipalities of the Comarca del Campo de Cartagena that have Windmills, in order to join the development of the Master Plan, in line with the agreement adopted in the Meeting held on March 7 by Ricardo Segado, the mayor of Torre-Pacheco, Antonio León, councilors of the Region and representatives of the Rural League of the Campo de Cartagena and the Association of Windmills of Torre Pacheco.
