Citizens propose the installation of defibrillators in public schools with greater influx of Cartagena (28/09/2016)

The local spokesman for Citizens pointed out that "more and more Spanish municipalities who are taking their responsibility to promote health through the installation of defibrillators in sports and in busy public spaces and this initiative is supported by health organizations as the Spanish Society of Cardiology and the Spanish Society of Medicine and Safety ".

Citizens ask tomorrow at the municipal plenary that the local government take the necessary measures to ensure the presence of DESA (External Defibrillators Semi-Automatic) in municipal facilities increased influx of citizens and especially in sports, in order to increase health security in the town.

In addition, the text of the motion includes a request that the City impart courses in first aid and use of defibrillators to sports and staff sporting facilities monitors, and to ensure the presence of personnel trained in the use of defibrillators in those facilities where they are placed.

Orange formation has reported that "each year occur in Spain more than thirty thousand cardiac arrest, equivalent to an average heart every twenty minutes stop. The deaths that occur as a result of cardiac arrests are four times more than those that they have to do with traffic accidents, which serves as an example to dramatize the problem of this issue. "

According to the Spanish Resuscitation Council (CERCP), "sudden death is a health problem of the first magnitude, and represents 15% of all deaths."

In Spain we have a statistic too accurate, but it is estimated that approximately 40,000 to 60,000 Spaniards die suddenly each year.

Between 40 and 60% of cases occurs in patients in whom sudden death is the first symptom of disease are hearts too good to die.

Without quick action most patients die within minutes, so the speed of health care is essential. "

The spokesman for Citizens in Cartagena, Manuel Padin, says plenty of reasons to bring this motion to the City Council, "we know that the Ministry of Health is recommending the installation of defibrillators in public places with this goal: to fight against sudden death, and it is also shown that the use of one-time can mean the difference between life and death, or at least minimize the consequences of a brain injury. "
