The Night of the Museums adapts to the new normal (25/09/2020)

To be carried out in compliance with all the health and social distance measures generated by the coronavirus pandemic, all activities will take place in delimited spaces where prior reservations can be made to meet capacity limitations, avoiding crowds.The councilor for Youth, Culture and Equality, David Martínez Noguera, has met with municipal technicians and directors of the participating museums in this XII edition of The Night of the Museums, with the aim of drawing the lines of action.This 'Different Night', the motto chosen for this new type of Museum Night, will take place on Saturday, November 14, the date proposed by the International Council of Museums."This edition of the Night of the Museums will be very different from the previous ones since we have to adapt to the current circumstances," explained the Councilor for Youth, David Martínez Noguera.

"We have decided to do everything in museum spaces and at no time will crowds be seen as in other years," said the mayor.The cultural event will be made up of workshops, guided tours and small-format performances, planned to take place from 10:00 a.m.

to 11:00 p.m.

and in those spaces where access control and capacity are possible by prior registration.

In this way, compliance with the sanitary measures necessary to preserve the health of both the attending public and the workers and artists will be guaranteed.Martínez Noguera has also pointed out that "as we know that the capacity is reduced, online activities will also be carried out for those who want to follow us from home and who cannot attend." “It is important that the culture continues to live in Cartagena.

We believe that culture is safe and if we do it with the necessary measures, we will be able to continue having cultural events, but always very adapted to the current circumstances, ”concluded the Youth Councilor.The European Night of Museums, which has always been held very close to the commemoration of International Museum Day (May 18), was an initiative created by the French Department of Culture in 2005, in which thousands of museums from all over Europe open their doors every year for free to a unique opportunity for the public to discover the richness and diversity of museum spaces.

For their part, the museums offer a program of special activities for this original evening aimed at all audiences.
