The mayor supervises the progress in the museum of the Roman Forum (23/07/2020)

The museum of the Roman Forum goes one step further to start it up.

The pieces that will be exhibited permanently are already in the museum.

Last week the assembly of the same began.

The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, has visited the facilities to check the progress of these works.

As we are seeing on this visit with the mayor, we are meeting the objectives, "explained the director of the excavations of the Molinete Archaeological Park, José Miguel Noguera.In the first place, the pieces distributed between the Municipal Archaeological Museum 'Enrique Escudero de Castro', their ships, the Augusteum and the Decumano were moved.

Once the pieces were already in the museum, the assembly work began on them.First, the exhibition wall, known as the Lapidary, was built, where large stone pieces have been placed, such as shafts and capitals of columns and pillars, the pilasters of the altar in the Atrium Building, inscriptions from the forum, among other pieces.

They are pieces that, due to their volume and weight, have required the use of a crane and other auxiliary means for their placement in the final place.During this week, the works have been carried out between the lapidary and the showcases of the -2 floor or archaeological plant and, in addition, they have been supervised by the Molinete archeology and restoration team, who knows each of the pieces perfectly.

that will be exhibited in the showcases and spaces of the museum.At the same time, work is being done on all the graphics that will accompany the pieces: Showcase panels, pieces brackets, signage and explanatory signage.

This will allow to throw information on the archaeological remains.

In addition, the production of the introductory audiovisual and the model, which is already being completed, also continue.
