Social Services extends the Aprendo Jugando project to four neighborhoods and districts (28/02/2020)

The Department of Social Welfare will extend to four neighborhoods the project 'Aprendo Jugando', created to "promote leisure and culture among children of families in the process of labor insertion, while facilitating their parents job search and reconciliation labor, "said Deputy Mayor Noelia Arroyo, responsible for the area.

The project began last year in Miranda and this year it is extended to four more areas of the municipality, El Llano de El Beal, El Estrecho de San Ginés, Los Barreros and the San Cristobal Neighborhood “El Bohío”, within the commitments of the network of Child Friendly Cities, to which Cartagena has joined.

“In each of these neighborhoods and councils we will create leisure and education spaces for 15 children between 6 and 11 years old.

The project includes a leisure workshop and an educational reinforcement workshop, aimed at children, and an educational support workshop, aimed at their parents.

The main intention of the council is to use the game as a vehicle to promote culture, coexistence and values as important as the value of effort, teamwork and respect for others. ”

The vice mayor explained that this project takes place outside of school hours, in the afternoon.

“They are developed in the places where they live, to promote social coexistence and participation in their environment, as well as the relationships between their peers, through a participatory methodology where children are the protagonists of their learning, through play as a motivational work tool ”.
