Social Services will invest 48,000 euros in the renovation of homes in Lo Campano (23/02/2020)

The mayor, Ana Belén Castejón, announced this morning that the City Council of Cartagena, through the departments of Social Services and Urban Planning, will implement a plan to rehabilitate damaged homes in Lo Campano.

In total, it is expected that 48,000 euros will be invested in seven homes, of which 3 are on Lanzarote Street, 2 on Fuerteventura Street and another 2 on Sánchez Meca Avenue.

Among the works that are going to be carried out are the sanitation and waterproofing of roofs, repairs on the facades, arrangement of electrical installations or placement of rainwater collectors.

Lo Campano is one of the two neighborhoods chosen to launch the 'Join your neighborhood' program, which seeks to develop actions that help prevent situations of residential, socioeconomic and demographic vulnerability in excluded urban neighborhoods.

Together with Lo Campano, Los Mateos and Santa Lucía are part of this project.

In fact, the mayor, Ana Belén Castejón;

the vice president of the Autonomous Community, Isabel Franco;

The vice mayor, Noelia Arroyo and councilors Mercedes García and Irene Ruiz, have attended this morning the activities 'Join your neighborhood' that were held this morning in Los Mateos, within the Local Pact.

The mayor has taken advantage of this meeting to ask the neighbors for their collaboration.

“Without you, this project makes no sense.

You are the main protagonists and we want it to be clear.

We can only improve the neighborhood with your involvement, your ideas and your work.

From the City Council we will put everything in our hands so that, together, we can build the best possible neighborhood, â€said Ana Belén Castejón.

The project is aimed at social inclusion in the neighborhoods of Santa Lucía, Los Mateos and Lo Campano, where 3,500 neighbors live, and has a budget of close to 1,200,000 euros, financed by the European Social Fund, the City Council of Cartagena and the Collaboration of the Autonomous Community.

The purpose of the Participatory Local Pact is to promote forms of collaboration between administration and neighbors in matters such as housing and public space, entrepreneurship, education or equal opportunities.

The presentation day has had a festive nature and multiple activities have been developed organized by neighbors, entities and the Department of Social Services.
