In Carnival Feather and Pride! (12/02/2020)

[12.02.20] "At Carnival Feather and Pride!"

It is the name of the campaign that, on the occasion of the celebration of the Carnival parties, will be carried out by the Association "GALACTYCO Collective" in collaboration with the Carnival Commission of Cartagena and INFOSIDA.

On February 17, the V Edition of the DRAG QUEEN GALA City of Cartagena will take place in the Sports Pavilion, Wsell de Guimbarda.

It will be that day when the GALACTYCO Collective will install an informative and condom distribution stand to raise awareness of the importance of preventing Sexually Transmitted Infections.

The Carnival Commission has collaborated with the GALACTYCO Collective since its inception, participating in the ENORGULLECT demonstration, even its president has been a preacher of the Pride Festivities, says GALACTYCO president Alberto Alba.

We want to celebrate some Carnival parties free of LGTBIfobia and where respect and individual claim of identity are a priority, says Alba.

The GALACTYCO Collective has already organized similar campaigns during the Carthaginian and Roman festivities, however, this will be the first time to carry out such an action at Carnival.

The initiative has been joined by INFOSIDA, which has provided the condoms that will be distributed during the campaign.

José María García, communication member of Colectivo GALACTYCO, apostille that, regardless of specific prevention campaigns, we have advice on STI prevention throughout the year.

In addition, Garcia recalls that citizens have at their disposal the Unit for prevention, diagnosis and treatment of STIs of the Plaza San Agustín de Cartagena.
