Abandoned Jesus will make a Game Room in UCAM Cartagena to raise awareness about poverty (27/01/2020)

The Faculty of Nursing organizes the III Meetings of Socio-Health Resources for Patient Support, which will include from February 6 to April 24, eleven actions, including visits to the Hemodonación Center and La Huertecica, along with various talks.

The Abandoned Jesus Foundation will hold a Game Room (an educational game that is organized in the classrooms using the Escape Room's own strategies in order to teach through non-formal education) and then a talk about awareness and development education on Campus of the UCAM in Cartagena, as one of the main novelties of the Meetings on Socio-Health Resources of Patient Support promoted by the Nursing School for the third consecutive year.

On this occasion, this initiative has wanted to become more dynamic, including also visits to know 'in situ' the Hemodonación Center and the facilities of the collective 'La Huertecica', which works with drug addicts or at risk of social exclusion of Cartagena.

However, there will also be talks with ostomized, amputated people, the Spanish Association Against Cancer, the D'Genes association and professionals who work with autism or disability at PROLAM Astus, as well as a nurse who worked with Doctors Without Borders in Angola and Kenya.

The coordinator of the Degree in Nursing at UCAM Cartagena, Magdalena Gómez, explained that "the objective of these events is to make known among our students the tools that exist through many different ways, complementary to those framed in public health systems , to improve the quality of life of their future patients. At the same time, we want to bring to the general public the great work carried out by these groups where the role of the nursing profession is fundamental to guarantee their well-being ".

In this sense, the program promoted from the Los Dolores Campus can be consulted on the events.ucam.edu website, from which interested persons can also register for free.
