The head of the regional Executive, Fernando López Miras, confirmed today that two million people have visited the museum of the Roman Theater of Cartagena since its opening, "a sample of the quality of the heritage that is hosted here and also the good work of promotion and attention is made here, "said the president of the Community, who also stressed that" this is still the most visited museum in the Region of Murcia. "

López Miras, who chaired the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Foundation of the Roman Theater of Cartagena, was "convinced that this museum and everything it houses will be decisive to achieve the deserved declaration of World Heritage for Cartagena in which we are already working ", and guaranteed that" from the regional government we continue betting on the Roman Theater and the port city ".

Since its opening, the monumental complex has succeeded in loyalty to the public and, "so far this year, the Roman Theater of Cartagena and its museum has exceeded most of the indicators and goals proposed for 2019," said the president.

Specifically, between January and November, 233,164 visitors were registered, 6.1 percent more than in the same period of the previous year.

As for the origin of the visitors, 48 ​​percent are of national origin and 52 percent are foreigners, most of them from the United Kingdom, although there has also been an increase among visitors from France and Germany.

Also, during the meeting, the Board approved the appointment of new members.

Specifically, on behalf of the Autonomous Community, the Minister of Education and Culture, Esperanza Moreno, and the General Director of Cultural Property, Rafael Gómez;

and, by the municipality of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo and Manuel Padín.
