All preparations for the festivities in Los Puertos de Santa Bárbara de Abajo are already underway.
From August 23 to September 1, a program full of activities for the whole family has been developed and, above all, very gastronomic.
And, practically during the festivities, various dishes offered by the Party Commission will be tasted for all residents and visitors who attend.
The festivities in honor of Santa Barbara are organized by the Party Commission of the Neighborhood Association, in collaboration with the Decentralization and Citizen Participation Councils;
Infrastructure, Service and Coast;
Culture, Youth and Equality;
and of Public Safety, Public Road and Celebrations of the City Council of Cartagena.
The celebrations will begin on Friday, August 23 with the Night of Flowers, where the opening of the canteen with rocket firing, the musical performance of the 'Jema Trio' or the tasting of bridal flowers bathed in coffee with milk will take place.
In addition, the proclamation of the parties will be held by the Councilor of the City of Cartagena, José López Martínez.
Saturday, August 24 is Children's Costume Day, where in addition to this activity, the Futsal Championship will begin, the musical performance 'Dúo Azabache' and various championships and board games.
This day, the neighbors and visitors can taste the bread 'puerteño'.
The next day, the Great Spanish Ballet 'Antares' of the Carmen Baños Dance School will liven up the Ballet Night, where there will also be various championships and you will taste chocolate and buns.
Monday, August 26 is Children's Day with the XXIII Cycling Tour of the town, the magic show of the Magician Leandro or the delivery of jelly beans for all children.
To end the day, inflatables will be installed in the party grounds and mobile disco.
On Tuesday, Women's Day, there will be a tasting of summer red wine with summer sausage toasts from 1 pm and, later, a contest of elaborated dishes.
Starting at 9:30 p.m., Migas Night will begin with prizes for drawing a ham, a loin and a sausage, in addition to the performance of the 'Gala Duo'.
The activities will continue on Wednesday with the verbena enlivened by the 'Duo Nerea' and the tasting of different dishes made with pork.
On Thursday, Day of the Third Age, there will be a Great Parade of models, various championships, the performance of the Duetto Duo and the Great Michironada.
The last weekend of parties starts on Friday, August 30 with the II Hiking Trail, the musical performance 'Dúo Yomage' and the tasting of bread with sobrasada.
On Saturday there will be tasting of fried eggs, after the closing of the Futsal Championship, the closing of the different table games and the performance of the 'Jema Trio'.
The festivities will come to an end on Sunday, September 1, in which the transfer of the patron saint, Santa Barbara, from her Hermitage to the Social Local, where a Holy Mass of Campaign will be held at 6:30 p.m., is scheduled, given by the parish priest Don Miguel Sagredo Jiménez.
After the liturgical celebration, a pilgrimage will be held until the Hermitage with the image of the patron, accompanied by the choir rociero 'Santa Bárbara' and the band of bugles and drums 'Young of the Mar Menor'.
The final party traffic will arrive at midnight, after the party closing dance by the 'Duo Minerva'.
