NAVANTIA puts people at the center of the digital transformation through the Strategic Plan (17/06/2019)

Tribute to those over 61 who leave the company

The president of Navantia, Susana de Sarriá, met Monday with the entire staff of Cartagena to promote the deployment of the Strategic Plan, with the aim of putting people at the center of the transformation undertaken by the company.

In addition, an event has been held with workers over 61 years of age who have left the company in application of the Plan, to whom a remarkable tribute has been paid.

The president has called on the entire workforce to join these changes, which will allow Navantia to ensure its viability and strengthen its identity as a strategic company for the safety and defense of citizens, at the technological forefront and engine of growth and social cohesion.

The Plan responds to the challenges the Company faces in an increasingly demanding and technological market with the aim of increasing its competitiveness, reinforcing its value proposition in national and international products and services, rejuvenating the workforce and modernizing the processes, products and facilities.

The Strategic Plan of Navantia, approved at the end of last year, is being deployed by the company based on its 3 pillars: The Commercial and Operations Plan aims to provide sufficient workload to all centers;

the Operational Efficiency Plan promotes the digital transformation towards the 4.0 shipyard and the rejuvenation and training plan for the workforce and a new single agreement, which will allow 1,658 incorporations;

all this is driven by a transversal process of cultural evolution.

For the deployment of the Strategic Plan, the Verne project has been developed, which includes the 15 key initiatives for its promotion, and on which Navantia is already working intensively.

In the Strategic Plan of the company, very ambitious investments are incorporated.

For Navantia in the Dársena de Cartagena some € 137 million, € 55 million of which have already been invested in the modernization of the shipyard for the S-80 program and the rest destined mainly for robotization and digitalization of the manufacturing processes, are allocated. of the resistant hull of the submarines, the adaptation of the IPS3 installations for the testing and maintenance of the AIP and the modernization of the engine factory.

People will make the Company digital

The shipyard of the future will be an intelligent, digital and collaborative shipyard, from design to construction, integration and testing, delivery and support to the life cycle.

In this model all those involved will be coordinated and connected: designers, suppliers, subcontractors, production, classification societies and customers.

All of the above would not be possible without having a human capital, a collaborating industry and national and international partners.

To carry out this project, these people will be the center of the digital transformation.

The contribution of all the actors of the sector, the clusters, the educational and technological centers, among others, with the support of the national and local Administration, will be essential in the management of this change towards a digital culture and organization, so that the evolution of technology in the naval industry is a reality.

The Shipyard 4.0 puts the focus on the client, therefore, Navantia collaborates with the Ministry of Defense and the Navy to achieve its implementation, and participates in the different work groups that have been put in place so that the digital transformation develops its full potential in new intelligent vessels and in the processes associated with their operation and maintenance.
