The UPCT Solar Team competes in London with an optimized vehicle to consume the minimum (17/06/2019)

Novelties in telemetry, electronic plate, wiring and transmission will debut the low-consumption vehicle of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) in this year's edition of the Shell Eco Marathon, held in London.

The UPCT Solar Team has presented today in the Rectorate the prototype with which they will compete with teams from universities around the world in the Mercedes Benz circuit of the English capital.

The tests will be held from June 29 to July 6.

The improvements introduced by the dozen students that make up the Polytechnic team, which is coordinated by Professor Antonio Guerrero, include weight reductions to reduce consumption, optimizations of the wiring to reduce energy losses and telemetric development to instantly know the consumption .

The goal is to improve the record obtained last year, 220 kilometers per kilowatt hour, which earned them the twenty-second place among the fifty or so participating cars.

"We have done tests in the Circuit of Cartagena and everything works correctly.

We have good expectations to improve the results, "says team leader Francisco Solano, a student at the Industrial School, as well as the rest of his Solar Team colleagues.

The pilot will be the student Rosa Bueno again.

The presentation was attended by the rector, Alejandro Díaz, and the Vice Rectors Beatriz Miguel and Antonio Duréndez, who have been named honorary members of the Solar Team.
