The MC Government Program will structure the municipality through its young people and its rich historical heritage (23/05/2019)

The training Cartagena proposes numerous measures to facilitate the development of youth in Cartagena and avoid the flight of talent that, along with the recovery of assets, will mark the roadmap of his Government during the next legislature

The extensive and rich MC Government Program for the next term includes a series of proposals and initiatives arising from the numerous meetings with neighbors and expert groups in each of the subjects that, without a doubt, will greatly help to work for a future prosperous for the municipality of Cartagena.

In relation to the proposals aimed at Youth and Heritage, the councilor and head of MC in the field, Ricardo Segado, stressed that "we are clear that our past must become the best of our futures, so we will continue working, as we already did it in the two and a half years of municipal government, to recover heritage elements such as the Amphitheater, the Monastery of San Ginés de la Jara, the Cathedral, the shore batteries or the windmills ".

Thus, the mayor has stressed the need to combine the urban development of the city with the preservation of our history.

In this way "we will expedite the municipal procedures through a Heritage Office through which all the files that require any type of action in archaeological matter will pass"

Creation of a Museum of the City that exposes part of the Heritage

At present, Cartagena lacks a Museum of the City.

"The time has come for us to have an open space where the City Council can exhibit its local heritage, open to citizens and tourists who want to know in a single space the three-thousand-year history of our municipality," said Segado.

In the same way, MC will work to achieve the declaration of Cartagena as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

"It is a just claim, argued and reasoned by the extensive defensive and military heritage with which we have."

Finally, as regards Heritage, in the MC Government Program, it is worth mentioning that the CARM should create the General Directorate of Archeology and locate its administrative headquarters in Cartagena.

Promoting Youth as the engine of the city

Likewise, MC is fully aware that the future of the city is not only about recovering the heritage.

Young people move the world and should be the ones who move the city.

In this regard, Ricardo Segado has assured that "we will bet in a determined way to avoid that, during their studies or once they are finished, they will want to or go to other cities and even countries. employment, helping the entrepreneurial initiative and establishing a program of grants, scholarships and paid internships in companies of the Shire ".

Equally, the cartagenerista formation will continue harnessing the programs of enormous success that offers the Councilorship of Youth, like the Mandarache Prize, Between Strings and Metals or Urban CT, so that they continue harnessing the capacities of our young people.

Artists must have sufficient and unconditional support from the City Council.

For this reason we will return the Subjective Room (created by MC in 2016) to the young artists, we will work hand in hand with the musical sector of Cartagena and we will invigorate the leisure and recreational life of our youth, both in the urban center and in our neighborhoods and Provincial Councils. .

Measures that will give a huge boost to the city, to reverse the continuous loss of inhabitants and get us to grow again year after year, both demographically and patrimonial level and our youth.
