Pedro Sabiote: "Either we take pollution seriously, or we are going to become an extinct species" (18/05/2019)

The mayoral candidate of Cartagena, Pedro Sabiote, reviewed some of the major problems suffered by the municipality, with special attention to the high levels of pollution suffered by some areas of the municipality and the shortcomings that, in terms of health, Cartagena maintains.

"The area of El Hondón, it is impossible to cross it walking if you go with a mask, all those sterile are dragged by the wind and we end up breathing them all, but the biggest obscenity is committed in El Llano del Beal, where you do not even have to use machinery to It is enough to scratch the ground a little with your foot to see it, some sterile ones that are also dragged by the wind only five or six meters from the school yard where the children play, what is producing that is one of the the areas with the highest incidence of childhood cancer. "

Regarding the health situation, Sabiote criticized that in the evenings or on weekends, there is no hemodynamic unit in Cartagena.

"If you suffer a complicated heart attack and you are unlucky enough to be in the afternoon or weekend, you have to ride in an ambulance and move to Murcia so you can be treated."

Regarding tourism and infrastructure, Sabiote lamented the abandonment suffered by some areas of the municipality, such as La Manga, "which basically we only remember in the summer and at the time of collecting the IBI, but to which we pay no attention during the rest of the year "and criticized that all the candidates speak only about the AVE," when in addition to the AVE we need some closeness in conditions and the start-up of the port of Gorguel, which would give thousands of jobs connected to the ZAL also by train".

The event was presented by the president of Somos Cartagena Somos Región and number three of the candidacy of the regional party to the Assembly, Ana Belén Nicolás, who expressed the need to have Somos Región in the institutions, "with politicians who are concerned about the real problems of people such as unemployment, which affects so many people in Cartagena and throughout the Region "and was closed by President Garre who criticized the situation of the Mar Menor.

"This is a huge issue that requires the participation of the State, but instead, we cover the problem by blaming the farmers exclusively for their situation, will anyone ever talk about the sewage treatment plants that dump tons of waste? the lagoon? Why is not the Salmoreduct finished to prevent agricultural waste from ending up in the Mar Menor?
