The apostles stand guard in Santa María to process this Holy Wednesday in the Prendimiento (17/04/2019)

The Holy Week of Cartagena continued on Tuesday April 16 with an unmissable event of this period of the year, notable for its tradition and symbolism, where Californios and military were twinned in a unique procession.

Transfers took place of the thrones of Santiago Apóstol, San Juan Evangelista and San Pedro Apóstol that will give way to their later meeting of the three processions.

From 20:50 hours, San Juan Evangelista and Santiago Apóstol began their procession from the Artillery Park and the Muralla del Mar, respectively.

For its part, the throne of San Pedro Apóstol left at 9:00 pm from inside the Military Arsenal.

The three exits had unique farewell military acts, where the saints received traditional military honors.

Mainly in the Military Arsenal where were the president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, the president of the Assembly, Rosa Peñalver, the government delegate, Francisco Jiménez and the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón.

Accompanied by soldiers and gentlemen student volunteers of the military academies, the thrones, on the shoulders of portapasos, toured the streets and squares of the center of Cartagena until arriving at the Plaza de San Sebastián, where they met about ten o'clock at night.

Once there, the following images moved through the streets Mayor, Cañón and del Aire accompanied by the band and picket of Marine Infantry and the third of Granaderos to the Church of Santa Maria de Gracia, where they waited until the exit of the magna california procession this Holy Wednesday.
