Lavatorio de Pilatos will be represented again at the Town Hall (16/04/2019)

This Holy Wednesday, April 17, will once again be starring in the theatrical performance of Pontius Pilate Lavatory, which will represent the Judgment of Jesus and his condemnation to die on the Cross, which will take place on the facade of the Palace Hall.

The act will begin at 17.45 hours organized by the Department of Culture and Celebrations, as is tradition, which will make available chairs in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento for the enjoyment of representation, and in collaboration with the group california and actors of the Municipal School of Theater, coordinated by his direct Alfredo Sánchez.

The performance culminates with Pilate throwing to the public the water with which he has washed his hands, exculpating himself from the death of Christ.

Lavatorio de Pilatos is one of the most characteristic events of Easter Cartagena and has been celebrated for more than a century, although in its beginnings it was limited to reading a scroll and sprinkling the assistants with water and cologne, then, in the mid-70s of the last century, to adopt the current dramatic staging.
