Cs demands that the Transportation Master Plan include a response to the needs of the Bachiller and FP students (16/02/2019)

On the occasion of FAPA's denunciation that today the newspaper La Verdad, Cs Cartagena has claimed that the future Master Plan for Transport of the Region of Murcia includes the needs of the hundreds of students of Bachillerato and Vocational Training and has reminded that a agreement of March 2018 since then forced the Government of the PSOE in Cartagena to develop a comprehensive municipal plan for the optimization of collective transport of passengers by road that has as a basis prior realization, by municipal technicians, a detailed report about the needs in urban transport that exist in Cartagena.

The local spokesman of the Group, Manuel Padín, says that "this plan included school transport and the establishment of agreements with the Ministry of Education and transport companies to find solutions for students of Bachillerato / FP and that go through the compatibilización horas of some urban lines, the use of free places in compulsory school transport and the creation of new lines ".

For Manuel Padín, "the PSOE has an obligation for a year that would have solved a good part of the claim of the Federation of Parents and Mothers but has not wanted to do it".

"No wonder that surveys like the barometer of the Observatory of Urban Services (OSUR), with which the FEMP collaborates, have concluded that there is only 44 percent satisfaction among the Cartagena public transport account, which means being 20 points below the Spanish average ", Padín added.

Citizens remember that the regulations of the Ministry of Education that regulates the management of school transport service of public schools has competencies in the transport of students from nursery to 4th ESO, "but allows students of post-compulsory education studying in schools public use the buses assigned on school routes when there are surplus seats, "explains the spokesman of Cs.

For Cs Cartagena it is increasingly evident that the Transportation Master Plan must include the needs of the students of Bachillerato and Vocational Training, a claim that the Municipal Group has already transferred to its Parliamentary Group "this measure already under way in other communities, has that include a clear needs map, where probably some territories solve the problem with the regular lines, and in others new lines have to be created;

this plan must be designed with a long-term vocation and with the corresponding financing ", specifies the spokesman of Cs Cartagena.

Cs Cartagena has asked its Group in the Assembly to investigate whether the Transport Master Plan, currently in consultation, participation and contributions, makes any reference to school transport, "otherwise we have asked you to make a contribution to optimize the transportation of our young students ".

Manuel Padín also recalled that Citizens included almost 7 million euros for public transport in the accounts of 2019, "a departure that could well be aimed at improving the mobility of our students."

"In Ciudadanos -recrimina Padín- we will not tolerate that the PP government continues ignoring Cartagena in the plans for the removal of asbestos, or for air conditioning;

we are the train car of all the parameters and educational investments for the Ministry and this already borders on discrimination for political and electoral reasons. "

Elcano Pavilion reform

Regarding the request of parents, teachers, Federation of Neighbors and FAPA to close the sports pavilion of the institute Juan Sebastián Elcano, Citizens reported that it has transferred to the Regional Assembly the need for regional deputies to urge the regional government to preventively close these facilities, to launch a technical assessment of their status, and undertake the necessary work dictated by this report, "either the reform of the pavilion apparently designed since 2006 or the construction of new sports facilities for the center, "says Manuel Padín who recalls that this pavilion has an asbestos roof with numerous holes and more than 35 years.

In addition, the Municipal Group has requested the viewing and copying of the report that today cites The Truth of a cabinet of architects which specifies that the facilities are not suitable for the performance of educational work or for any other nature.
