The mayor denounces the blackmail of the Regional Government with the transitory urban regulations (16/10/2018)

The mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, has denounced that the Regional Government intends to blackmail the City of Cartagena by now including the transitory urban regulations in an amendment to the Law of Business Acceleration, "to try to pass this Law", has designated Castejón.

The transitory urbanistic norms are a figure that is included in the Land Law of the Region of Murcia for those municipalities, which in an exceptional situation, do not have a General Urban Plan - as is the case of Cartagena - "and it is therefore competition of the Regional Government to offer the tools for the approval of the same ", has assured the mayoress.

Castejón explained that after all these months of silence on the part of the Regional Government, in which the transitory rules have not been approved, the Council is now with the intention of including a modification of Article 145.4 of the Land Law so that within that Law of Business Acceleration that they want to approve can enter into force the transitory norms of Cartagena.

According to the first mayor, "with this maneuver only adds more uncertainty in the urban area in Cartagena since this law does not yet have the approval of the legal services of the regional chamber."

And is that, if this Law of Business Acceleration is declared unconstitutional "would be suspended any license that was granted under this Law and that would be very serious by the Regional Government for the municipality," said Castejón.

For what has ensured that "I will not allow the citizens or the employers of Cartagena to be confused, suggesting that it depends on the approval of this Law in the autonomous parliament so that these transitory rules come into force, since has the powers to make this effective is only the Regional Government. "

Finally, the mayor of Cartagena, announced that an initiative is going to be presented in which the Regional Government is urged to approve with urgency the transitory urban planning norms for the municipality, "as promised by the Regional President and at the margin of the Business Acceleration Law, "he added.

Castejón recalled that Cartagena is in this situation because the General Urban Plan of 2012 was annulled by the Supreme Court.

Therefore, these transitory rules were proposed while establishing a new Urban Plan for the municipality.
