CTSSP will once again demand that the city council demand that the Catholic Church return the unregistered public assets (21/08/2018)

Francisco Martínez, councilor of Cartagena Sí Se Puede (CTSSP), expresses his wish that the Ministry of Justice, as committed, publish as soon as possible the list of goods registered by the Catholic Church.

CTSSP recalls that this is a non-Law Proposal that went ahead in Congress, although it did not have the support of the PP and Citizens.

Once the list of goods registered by the Catholic Church has been published, the purple formation will once again present a motion in the City of Cartagena for the latter to judicially claim the Church, once the public goods that are known are publicly known. affect the scope of the municipal term, and after the individualized study of each case, the properties that are considered for that purpose, including, among others, the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights that consider that the acts of inmatriculación of the Catholic Church they violate the European convention of human rights.

The mayor of Podemos recalls that in this regard he submitted a motion in the municipal plenary session on March 30, 2017, which did not go ahead due to the rejection of MC, C's and the PP.

"In this motion we explained how the Bishopric registered the cemetery of La Palma on its name on December 18, 2014, changing the Church to the holders of personal property titles by simple titles of burial rights, in many cases with a previous date. to the granting of a deed in favor of the Bishopric, with the holders of owners being obliged to request in writing from the Parish Priest the personal right to use the burial units.

This concession was also conditioned to the fact that the deceased had been faithful to the church, and limited only to the petitioner, his spouse and children. "Martínez also states that" this violation of the right to property that entails only the right to burial for a specific time, burial limitation and discrimination on religious grounds ".

Francisco Martínez, finally, notes that "this initiative aims to defend the general interest of all people, which is what we have come to politics, and not look elsewhere, when we are aware of the abuses suffered by the public regardless of who commits them. "
