The new viewpoint of La Gola de Marchamalo will be chosen through a contest of ideas (15/06/2018)

The Palace of Aguirre has hosted today, June 15, the technical meeting to raise awareness of ideas for the new viewpoint in the Gola de Marchamalo in the Manga del Mar Menor, which is part of the initiative 'La Manga 365' .

The appointment was made by the mayor of the Quality of Life and Welfare area, Obdulia Gómez, representing the City of Cartagena, which is part of the jury.

The appointment was chaired by the Minister of Development, Patricio Valverde, who has been responsible for detailing the details of the project.

The total investment of the action for the improvement of the Gola de Marchamalo amounts to 200,000 euros.

The winner of the public tender will receive 24,000 euros to write the project and direct the work.

The bases where the requirements to participate in this public initiative are detailed will be published as of today in the Official State Gazette.

On the other hand, the deadline for submitting applications ends on July 30.

The jury in charge of choosing the winning project, which is formed by the municipalities of Cartagena and San Javier, professionals of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, representatives of Coastal Demarcation, together with technicians from the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, will make public its verdict as of September 30 and it is expected that its execution will not take more than three months.

As indicated by the mayor of the area of ​​Quality of Life and Welfare, Obdulia Gómez, the City of Cartagena is a member and interested firsthand in the improvement of this area of ​​La Manga.

Thus, he said that during the meeting has been announced the contest of ideas for the improvement of an area of ​​Marchamalo, in which there is now a pipeline that is dangerous for everyone, but especially for children, and try to do something attractive , as a terrace-mirador that can have future continuity with a walkway that can be joined.

From the City of Cartagena "is being made available to the Ministry projects, authorizations and land that are needed to carry out investments and we can collect a much more fluid Manga, with parks, a space more sustainable and accessible, "said the mayor of Quality of Life and Welfare, Obdulia Gómez.

On the other hand, this project also advances to achieve the goal of improving employability in the La Manga area and not only reduce it to the summer season.

THE MANGA 365

La Manga 365 is an initiative that aims to put an end to seasonality and enhance the enclave of La Manga as a sustainable and tourist ecosystem of reference in Europe.

For this, it has a budget of 19 million euros from 80% of Feder funds, in line with the Strategy for Sustainable and Integrated Urban Development (Edusi).

The remaining 20 percent is provided by the Community, in close collaboration with the municipalities of Cartagena and San Javier.

This initiative has four priority areas of action to work on economic development and to achieve the progressive reduction of seasonality.

Thus, 'La Manga abierta' is dedicated to the promotion of tourist and nautical activities, `La Manga se goza ', is an initiative for the improvement of landscapes, accessibility and spaces, in which the Marchamalo project is framed;

'La Manga moves', for the promotion of sustainable transport, developing bike lanes and more parking areas;

and 'La Manga conecta', a program with which more advanced technologies will be promoted, with intelligent networks that improve people's lives.

With regard to this last initiative, within 'La Manga Conecta' the Smart Beach program has been developed with which you can enjoy an internet connection at Cala del Pino during this summer.
