The neighbors of the Mar Menor demand improvements in the coastal state with a mobilization in the Regional Assembly (24/05/2018)

The Federation of the Association of Neighbors, Consumers and Users of Cartagena and District Fernando Garrido has mobilized this Thursday, May 24, with a rally at the Regional Assembly in which they expressed their discomfort for the state in which they are located. beaches of Los Urrutias, Punta Brava, El Carmolí, Los Nietos and Estrella de Mar.

The act was attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, together with the mayor of the area of ​​Public Services, Citizen Participation and Celebrations, Juan Pedro Torralba.

Several members of the local corporation have also met, such as José López, Manuel Padín, Pilar Marcos, Isabel García and Ricardo Segado.

In addition, representatives of the Neighborhood Associations and the FAVCAC.

The Federation of the Association of Neighbors, Consumers and Users of Cartagena y Comarca (FAVCAC), has taken to the door of the Regional Assembly some of the elements found daily on its beaches, such as remains of algae and plastic bags with sludge and mud from the lagoon to show what the state of it is.

The first mayor of the City of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, stressed that this action is to give visibility, while showing that from the consistory are with neighbors and their claims on the problem.

In addition, said "I hope that the regional government take note and see that something must be done about this matter, as I asked the national president in the letter I sent requesting help to make a common front with the Government of Spain to allocate budgets and establish a special action plan to protect the Mar Menor. "

The neighbors of the Mar Menor have asked for a solution for the state of their beaches with placards in which they could read, among others, the slogans "For a clean bathroom" or "Save the Mar Menor", while they sang and sang different protest songs

During the ceremony, the president of the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and District (FAVCAC), Leandro Sánchez, has read a manifesto before all the attendees in which he denounced the situation in which the neighbors live in the area and has demanded a solution for the accumulation of mud on the coast.

In addition, he insisted that the "situation is catastrophic" to the point that has led to the closure of business.

To conclude the event, the mayor of Cartagena, Ana Belén Castejón, together with the president of the FAVCAC, Leandro Sánchez, presented the manifesto, which had been previously read on the facade of the Regional Assembly, to the Regional Assembly. be addressed to all parliamentary groups.

This protest is the continuation of the actions undertaken on May 17 in Murcia and will continue during the summer period in Los Urrutias, where demonstrations will be held on July 21 and August 18.
